The tariffs of JSC Air Astana in 2015 increased by 30-40 percent. It is reported by the Committee on regulation of natural monopolies, writes MIA “Kazinform”.
“The Committee on regulation of natural monopolies and protection of competition of the Ministry of national economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of received complaints on the high prices of air tickets of Air Astana JSC is under investigation for violation of legislation in the field of protection of competition in terms of abuse of monopoly or dominant position by setting monopolistically high prices. From 5 October 2015, the air passenger market, which previously regulated markets were deregulated (was not included in the list of goods (works, services) of subjects of controlled markets that are subject to government price regulation, approved by order of the Ministry of national economy of Kazakhstan from July 20, 2015 No. 547),” – said in the letter.
It is noted that, according to the results of the analysis of the dynamics of prices and volumes of air traffic found that JSC Air Astana has a dominant position on the market regular domestic flights and its prices are higher than the prices of other airlines. It was a comparison of average fares for economy class, operating in 2015, when they are subject to state price regulation, tariffs 2016.
