The Russian system “GLONASS” will be able to determine the location of the object with an accuracy of meters, starting in 2020, said Deputy General Director of state Corporation “Rosatom” Mikhail Khailov at the meeting of the international Committee on global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), according to RIA Novosti.
Russia as a provider of global navigation satellite system “GLONASS” and a permanent member of the international Committee in 2016 acts as the host. The meeting is chaired by the state Corporation “Rosatom” with the support of the United Nations.
“We have a program to improve the accuracy of GLONASS system, which is designed for several stages. The next milestone in 2020. By 2020 without the use of functional add-ons we should reach an accuracy better than one meter”, he said.
In the meeting of the GNSS is attended by about 200 members of delegations and international organizations from more than 30 countries representing the community of consumers of services of satellite navigation. On the agenda was the reports of the providers of navigation satellite systems, presentations on topical issues, expert seminar on “the Use of precision navigation in various sectors of the world economy”, plenary meetings and meetings of the thematic working groups.
