Airports Ukraine needs to abandon the duplication of information in the Russian language up to 1 December this year. About it during hardware meeting on 17 October was declared by the Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan, according to the website of the Ministry of infrastructure of the country.
According to the Omelyan, all information that is placed on signs, electronic scoreboards, signs, or hear through loudspeakers, there should be only two languages — Ukrainian and English, added Omeljan. “No Russian language should not be. It is not only the use of the state language is a matter of self — respect in the first place”, — said the Minister.
Workers of the airports “should use the Ukrainian or English language” while communicating with the passengers, he said. According to the Minister, the airports must abandon the “Communist names”.
The Minister also told about the plans to appeal to all airlines performing flights to Ukraine with a request to abandon the Russian language and in transliteration of geographical names use the English and Ukrainian languages.
The newspaper “Kommersant”, close to the Ukrainian presidential administration, considers that the decision of the Ministry of infrastructure consistent with the laws of Ukraine. These laws are called Ukrainian the official language and prohibit the use of Communist symbols in the country, added the source.
In early October, the Minister of infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced that information on the Russian language will be removed before the end of 2016, also at railway stations and stations. He said that the names of the stations, information and ads on the scoreboard are only in two languages — Ukrainian and English.
