The contribution of Russia into the newly created BRICS space system of Earth remote sensing satellites will be the “Canopus”, said Wednesday to journalists in Saint-Petersburg Deputy General Director of state Corporation “Rosatom” Mikhail Khailov. This writes the RNS.
“We have moved from certain declarations to discuss the details of the appearance of the system. Understand which devices will be part of this joint group. From our side it is a spacecraft “Canopus”,” said Khailov on the sidelines of the 13th Plenary meeting of the Group on Earth observations (GEO-XIII).
He said that following a meeting of representatives of space agencies of the BRICS countries on this issue will take place in 2017 in Russia.
In turn, the head of Department of automatic space complexes and systems of the state Corporation “Rosatom” Valery zaichko reported that the BRICS countries have agreed on the contribution of each party in the overall system. So, Russia, India and China will provide the satellites, South Africa – ground infrastructure for receiving and processing information. Brazil will provide made in conjunction with the China satellite and ground station reception and processing of information.
