The mother of pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko will refer the petition for clemency to new President of the United States, reports gazetasi.
“I hope that Barack Obama in recent days, the presidency will show mercy and fix the criminal mistake made by the court concerning my son. If not, I will refer to the new President of the United States,” she said.
She also noted that so far not received a response to a letter to Barack Obama.
Earlier, representatives of the protection Yaroshenko reported that he could be back before the end of the Obama presidency.
Yaroshenko was convicted in the United States in 2011 to 20 years in prison for attempted drug smuggling. In the US, the Russian was taken from Liberia, where he was arrested on may 28, 2010. In April 2016, the court of appeals of new York denied Yaroshenko in the revision of the sentence.
